Ode to Halloween
by NIshi

Oh Halloween
I do not know
why people think that you are
so spooky,so scary,so creepy

All those
ghosts,goblins,witches,
skeletons, Dracula and vampires
make your knees shake.

Houses look haunted
Children trick-or-treating
everywhere.Pumpkin
baskets swinging and singing
Candy,candy,candy
Oh that sweet tasting
candy,just like
chocolate chip cookies

You make me think why
you don't come fast enough.
Halloween Halloween
you give candy to
all the children
of the world
You are incredible and fantastic.
Still I Don't understand
why people say you're scary, spooky, and creepy.

But I LOVE Halloween!

Ode to My Dreams

by Mike J.

If I close my eyes and look beyond the world,
Would you join me there?
And if I turn away and look inside,
Would this new world even compare?

To take control in these dreams is
To free the mind from doubt,
Release your ego in lucidity,
Give in to the power of your dreams.

Your mind is the door only you can see,
Inside is eternity, moving forever inward.
In sleep its deepest fears and desires
Display twisted realities and surreal caricatures.
Carnivalesque...
Yet not as different from waking life as we believe.

Oh dreams, you grant me purpose even in rest,
Placing me in danger, excitement, love, and fear.
If my lucidity breaks through, then I am free,
Free to sail to the edges of my mind,
“The more I go inside, the more there is to see.”
The whole world changes when I blink…

Ode to the Beach
by Samantha

O beach your
soft sand
warms up my
bare feet. Beach
Your pretty seagulls
Try to steal
My peanut butter
Sandwich. My mom
Hands me an icecream
it drips right
Down my chin. I
Boogis Board into the
crashing wave. I
see a school
of fish swimming next
to me one red
one blue one
big one
small. I hear
The sound of
A child's laughter
and want to join them too.
We build a big sandcastle with a
seashell on the top. O beach
I wish this would never stop.

Ode to Fall
by Jodi

Seasons change, summer gives way to fall
Leaves turn red, orange and yellow.
They float with the wind on their way down
Crisp, crackle, crunch under your shoes as you walk.

Fall is the season of pumpkin spice lattes
and apple cider donuts.
Thick wooly sweaters
and the sounds of rain on pavement.

The air gets crisp, signaling the coming seasons
Anticipation for the holidays hangs in the air
as the festive songs play on the radio
It’s almost time for hot chocolate and mittens.

Fall is when the sun sets early
and the stars stay out late.
When the wind nips at your cheeks
and tangles your hair.

Ode to Halloween
by Cameron
Oh Halloeen, your
nights are so
spooky and your
witches are so frightful.
Your monsters and vampires
are really scary
Your ghouls, ghosts,
and goblins give
us a spook.

All types of
costumes with
kids inside them.

Oh Halloween
the costumes can be
pretty, spooky, scary, fun, funny,
or cool. Halloween how
did you get so fun? There's
trick-or-treating when you
come. Kids get candy
but don't eat much.
Halloween,you're wonderful.

Ode to My Family

By Nicole Viteritti

I am so lucky
To be a part of a family like mine
Big in size
But coming together all the time
Different as individuals
But strong as a whole
And I love them all

Dad's selflessness
Mom's care
Angelo's talent
Natalie's mind
Stephanie's charm
Maria's love
Louie's innocence
Gianna's spirit

They complete me
Like no one else can
My life would be so different
Without them

Ode to Candy Land
Oh candy land

Oh candy land
My favorite game for holidays
and weekends

Your gingerbread houses
your cotton candy trees
your icecream mountains
your jello trampolines

Your peppermint stones
your candycane pillars
your gumdrop hills
and chocolate bar doors

Candyland brings my friends together
we laugh and we share
oh Ishita my friend
I know you want to win
But all I wish is that this game
Candy Land was real.

Cinem-Ode: An Ode to Movies
By Cody Garrett

From the moment the ticket is in my hand
To the moment the credits finally end
I love the going to movies

Meeting interesting characters,
Going on dangerous adventures,
And traveling to different worlds

I feel completely at home
When I am watching all alon
Or even with my family and friends

On the edge of my seat
Is where you and I can meet
Excited for what will happen next

Batman, Alice, Obi-Wan Kenobi,
Gandalf, James Bond, oh and Dorothy
Are a small few of my closest friends

To laugh and to cry
To live and to die
I can’t look away

If a bad movie is what I’m going to view
The best part will be the previews
Preparing me for a fun future

Before we watch, please don’t rush me
I just want to get a slushee
And we can share some popcorn

Here comes a brand new story
Making its place in history
And now: the feature presentation.
